  7. Ist das nur auf englisch oder gibt es das auch auf deutsch?

  8. Only English. I am sorry.
But i think it is still worth reading if you don't understand English very well. We have added 3 exclusive videos that you have never seen on any website or youtube and some amazing photos delivered by our writers.

  9. Thank you for the answer, my english is not so good, but i think i will understand it. Really good that excist now this magazin.

  10. Thanks for the comments and thoughts about where this magazine should be seen and viewed. We really have enjoyed producing this first issue and we hope everyone enjoys the way the digital publication is designed and looks along with its diverse content!

I have been in the design and print industry for many many, too many to be honest, years along side owning and running Flashpoint Fireworks. I have worked, and still do, with traditionally designed and printed magazines which are then turned into PDF magazines that can be viewed on the internet as page turn publications using the PDFs from the magazine. This is NOT what we wanted to produce for this magazine. We wanted to produce something that was new, exciting, dynamic and never been done within our firework industry before. The magazine layout is not like a traditional magazine, the publication will never be printed. In some cases the page designs may look like a printed magazine page but the key is with digital magazine designs you have an infinite canvas to work with. With scrolling text and slideshows combined with links to other mediums such as videos and photos all seen from within the same App that you never actually leave. All of this is just not possible in traditional print magazines that are then turned into page turn PDFs for the web.

For now we will be sticking with Apple iPad Tablets and also Android Tablets. The reason for this is plain and simple, time!

The magazine is produced for an iPad at present and then all the files have to be converted and then re-laid out into a new Android grid for each page. This takes a fair amount of time and effort... well to be honest many many hours! We do this because we want the user experience to be as good on each platform and this is why we have for now just chosen Tablets only to work with. We end up with four versions of the magazine as it is, high res for HD Tablets and lower res for standard definition Tablets, for both Apple and Android. If we were to add Apple iPhones and also Android phones there would be even more work each issue to do. This is mainly down to the screen size of these phone devices. All the pages would have to be re-laid out again into single columns because we would want the design of the publication to fit the device it is being viewed on. Call us perfectionists but that’s how we want our magazine to viewed by the user, the best possible experience.

But, there is always a but, in saying all that if in the future the magazines advertising grows significantly and we feel it justifies the additional time being spent on it then we will produce the magazine for all devices including Kindle Fire as well through Amazon.

As others have already pointed out we do also have greater control of the publication with it being distributed through the iTunes store and also Google Play. We can see where in the world the publication is being downloading more and where we need to concentrate our efforts on publicising the magazine further. It’s amazing that the magazine has only been out a few days and we have had people contacting us from around the globe like India and the Far East already!

Tony and I are very very proud of what has been produced in this first issue and the response has been amazing from across the world! We really hope that this continues and look forward to bringing you firstly the Android version of the magazine and then the second Issue for both platforms at the start of September, later this year.

If you have any ideas or articles for the next issue please email either Tony - [email protected], Many Thanks.

    Kind Regards,

    Jason & Tony

  13. Thanks for a great piece of work, guys. I'd prefer a less proprietary format than IOS/Android apps or Kindle files via Amazon (for ex. good ole' PDF) but can also see the benefits of trying to keep control over the commercial aspects of your project by preventing certain "secondary utilization" which has reached almost epidemical proportions in this day and age.

Keep at it and count me in as a regular reader.

  14. Dear Pyro friends...

Finally, a little later than we had wished, we are able to announce that the magazine can now be read on Android tablets, 2560x1600 or 1280x800 res versions, via Google Play. Please use the link below to download your FREE copy now.

We are really sorry that this has taken so many weeks longer than expected. Unfortunately we have had a few technical issues with the supplier we use to publish the magazine and discovered a problem with their system when outputting to 1280x800 files from our 2560x1600 pages we had made up for the Android tablet. These issues have now been resolved and both Apple and Android versions will be available at the same time for Issue Two of the magazine

Please enjoy looking through the magazine and we welcome all of your feedback. If you have any ways you think we could improve or add to the experience please let us know. If you have any ideas or photographs of events or festivals that you think would be ideal for us to report on please email Tony on [email protected] Thank you in advance.

Please now go and enjoy the magazine

    Kind regards,

    Jason & Tony

  15. Is there a specific reason why your magazine is available for free in appstores but not as pdf?
Not very user-friendly for those who do not own a tablet :(

Great job Tony & Jason, you will hear from me very soon... :blintzel:

  18. Announcement: Michael Richards has been hired to be the new editor of Pyrotechnic Magazine!

If the name sounds familiar, it is because Michael Richards was the editor and art director of ’76 Pyro Magazine for almost 5 years (2007-2011). ’76 Pyro was a groundbreaking pyrotechnic publication that for the very first time highlighted the amazing world of fireworks worldwide. He was also the art director/designer for the National Fireworks Association (NFA) Newsletter for almost 5 years as well, and designed/created the popular Expo Guide for the NFA conventions. Now, he’ll be working as the editor of Pyrotechnic Magazine—and we’re very happy to have him onboard!

“I think Pyrotechnic Magazine is the next logical step for the fireworks industry,” Michael said recently to Publisher Tony Gemmink. “Whereas it is difficult to truly capture the majesty of fireworks on the printed page, digitally—with photos and videos—we can now share fireworks displays in a whole new way. Tablets/iPads are the perfect medium to use to share, describe and instruct everyone interested in the pyrotechnic industry. It’s really an exciting idea whose time has come.”

In addition to being an editor and writer (Michael wrote the article about master pyrotechnician John Sagaria for our premiere issue), Michael is also a professional photographer, graphic designer and—believe it or not—a political consultant with over 100 campaigns under his belt!

Michael will begin his tenure as editor beginning with the second issue of Pyrotechnic Magazine. Let’s all join in and welcome Michael (known to many by his moniker “FireDzine”) into our pyrotechnic fold. We look forward to his articles and to his influence. We also welcome his creative insight into how to use our ever-changing technology to better highlight the grandeur of the fireworks industry.
